To my former patients

Your story could
help someone
just starting theirs.

I’ve missed hearing how you’re doing. Let’s reconnect—and help the next generation grow up with type 1 diabetes feeling a little less alone.

I’m gathering real experiences for a book about the questions people ask, the feelings we keep inside, and the words we wish we’d had.

A note from Dr. LynShue

You’ve grown up.
I haven’t forgotten you.

One of the most meaningful parts of my work has been getting to know you and watching you grow. When you move on to adult care, I don’t always get to hear what happens next. I miss you, and I often wonder how you are doing.

Now I’m writing a book for children, tweens, and teenagers growing up with type 1 diabetes. I want them to hear from people who remember what it was like—and know what comes next.

You don’t need a perfect story or all the answers. The things that were awkward, frustrating, funny, or unexpectedly wonderful all matter. I’d be grateful to hear yours.

Warmly, Dr. LynShue

Before you begin

Do I have to answer every question?

No. Skip any story question. A single memory or piece of advice can be meaningful.

Can I reconnect without contributing to the book?

Absolutely. Choose the personal update option. Your update will be separate from material considered for publication.

How will my name and story be used?

You choose your public name and whether your ages may appear. A story can sometimes be recognizable even with a made-up name. Selected excerpts require your final approval; participating does not guarantee inclusion.

For the child who needs to hear it

“Someone else has been here, too.”

Your experience could give a child the confidence to answer a question, ask for help, or imagine their future.
